Importance
The tunnel is expected to:
- Ease traffic congestion on the Nagdhunga section.
- Reduce travel time and fuel consumption.
- Lower the risk of accidents on the uphill and downhill roads.
Note: This is Nepal's first road tunnel, and its construction began in B.S. 2076.
